Durante un tiempo hemos estado probando varios productos gratuitos de VPN.  Estamos en contra de los ISP que bloquean tráfico, los servicios que se cortan tras cierto tiempo según tu IP o los paises que restringen el uso de software (type Skype, Google o Facebook).  Y esta es una buena solución. Aquí tenéis un buen artículo sobre estos productos.

Hace poco revisamos una alternativa MUY potente e interesante: Tor. Es fantástica pero hemos encontrado que algo kenta, sobre todo según tu conexión. Ese es un problema recurrente para estas VPN, su lentitud.  Por eso entre todo el resto de VPNs gratuitos recomendamos Hotspot Shield.

Es rápido, sencillo de instalar y con una conexión que responde muy bien (antes fallaba, ahora parece más estable). Además encripta TODO el contenido de Internet, no sólo http. El único problema y que puede echar para atrás a algunos usuarios es que aparecen anuncios en el navegador. Estos se pueden evitar si usas Firefox con NoScript (al que ya le dedicamos un artículo aquí). Si queréis más seguridad, en esta página los dueños explican qué recopilan. A nosotros personalmente nos compensan algunos anuncios para poder navegar por ciertos sitios anónimamente.

However we’ve found Tor and most of the other VPNs suffer from network lagging, and are too slow on small bandwith connections. We had tried Hotspot Shield before but found it dropped the connection every now and then. Recently, we’ve found it to be more stable and it’s noticeably faster.  The only drawback might be that it puts adds on your browser. This can be stopped using firefox with the NoScript add-on (which we reviewed here). However we find being able to use certain blocked services or not having your IP registered is an advantage that makes a few adds just a small bother. The program is very easy to use, just start it and it will open a web interface. When it says connected, you’ll be able to navigate with ALL (not just http) Internet traffic being encrypted.
